Men in Plastic Suits
One of my long neglected hobbies is costuming, more specifically props and armor making. So yesterday I journeyed online to see what the current state of the art in plastic costume armor was, specifically vacuform armor, and found a few interesting sites. First off the "Daddy" of all vacuform plastic sites studio creations had some cool updates including their ongoing clone trooper project and some interesting pictures taken at the Lucasfilm "Magic of Myth" tour using precisely spaced laser pointers to project measurable points on to some of the original star wars props. This site is the definitive source of info for costume vacuforming and includes detailed instructions on low budget vacuforming and a step by step guide to building stormtrooper armor, in fact it may be responsible for the glut of fully armored troopers I saw at this years comic con.
Google brought up a short list of links to useful how-to sites, which included a link to the helmet section of my ork costume site.
Finally I found Nimba Creations which has made full-size (!) Space Marine armor and other props from the 40K ‘verse. Inspiring stuff
